Our Second RV Open Road Magazine Cover Shot!

Thanks to my photographer wife Anne I have in recent years developed a passion for the hobby myself. While she is out chasing her beautiful landscape and animal photos, I’m most often found photographing my other great passion, “the RV”. I love capturing the beauty of our campsite locations.

I was pleasantly surprised last month to learn one of my rig photos was to once again grace the cover of the RV Open Road magazine. Last fall’s issue was a shot of us camped at gorgeous Alabama Hills in eastern California.

This time, it’s a photo I took last spring while we were visiting the spectacular Big Bend Ranch State Park. We spent a week camped at the Maverick Ranch RV Resort situated below the iconic looking Lajitas Mesa rock formation.

One little thing the most eagle-eyed of you may notice, only a single front landing jack is visible in the photo. We had just blown the passenger side landing leg and were awaiting a replacement to arrive so I could fix us up. Not a bad location to be broken down, though.

Once you open up this month’s issue you will find an article I wrote reviewing the Lippert Components Air Ride Pin Box. Be sure to also check the Love Your RV! blog post for a demonstration video of it in action pulling our Keystone Cougar fifth wheel.

Since publishing that post we have traveled for several months all over the southwest on freeways, 2 lane state highways, and narrow backcountry roads. If you have followed the blog you know we love to boondock in out of the way locations.

Getting to these beautiful off the beaten path campsites most times involves dragging the trailer over gravel, dirt or cracked potholed pavement. The Air Ride Pin Box has been a perfect addition to the Cougar fifth wheel. Protecting our home on wheels from the shocks and smoothing out the ride.

The RV Open Road magazine is a free publication delivered to RV dealers all over the country. They also have a digital version available online. I’m a bit bias since I’m published in it, but I think you will find it packed with terrific RVing info.
