Welcome to my review of the BetterWeigh Mobile Towing Scale by Curt. I’ve decided to split the review into two videos. This first one will cover the installation of the OBD2 port device and a look at the companion smartphone app.

Once I get the BetterWeigh device and app up and running, I perform several of its many mobile weigh scale functions. First up is the truck weight test followed by payload, fifth-wheel trailer pin, and boat trailer tongue weight measurements.

Disclaimer: I’ve recently become an LCI Brand Ambassador and will be doing many more product reviews for them going forward. The BetterWeigh was provided to me free of charge by Lippert Components Inc, but I received no monetary compensation.

In this second video, I take my wife’s boat and trailer out for a tow weighing test and stop at a local landfill to get a real physical scale weighing to compare.

BetterWeigh Review Part 2 (Towing Test & Real Scale Comparison)

The BetterWeigh weight readings come close to a real-world scale but not close enough and consistent enough for me. I find there are too many mechanical and user variables involved during calibration and testing to produce consistent results.

Therefore, in my opinion, the BetterWeigh Mobile Scale is an interesting gadget but not an accurate enough way to weigh the rig, truck, or payload. It may, however, act as a rough guide, letting you know you need to visit certified scales.
