I’m back with a first look at Bluetti’s new Charger 2 DC-to-DC charger. If you remember, I reviewed their Charger 1 last winter, did a couple of videos on it, and we ran it all summer on the boat with great success. I was able to draw up to 500 watts from the engine alternator while underway to keep the power station charged. Version 2 is a serious step up: way more power, up to 1200 watts, plus a bunch of extra features and power input output options.
It’s a slightly bigger unit than the old one, with a cooling fan on top, and ports everywhere. Alternator input, solar up to 600W, spot for their DC hub (I’ll cover that separately), bidirectional for Bluetti battery packs (1000W reverse to keep your vehicle battery happy), plus data cables.
Accessories are top-notch: beefy 5-meter high-temp cables, pre-tinned ends, connectors, and a huge win, they included a 75A terminal fuse for the battery hookup. They definitely listened to us reviewers on that safety point.
Hooked it up in my Ram 3500 diesel pickup (Note: I’ve got the optional 220A alternator; make sure yours can handle the draw), ran the 6 AWG cable to my Elite 100 V2 power station. Fired up the truck: pulled a solid 660-700 watts, 53 amps of charging power from the alternator.

Expansion Battery Tests – DC Hub, Max Wattages & Reverse Charging
In this video, I continue my review of the new Bluetti Charger 2 device. Bluetti sent me out an expansion battery, and it was a good solar power day, so I was able to test the max wattage capabilities of the Charger 2 and its companion DC hub, plus reverse charging to the starter battery.
In my testing with the B300K expansion battery, the DC Hub was able to output its maximum 700-watt rating and reliably start my VIAIR 12V air compressor. I was also able to charge up to 600 watts from solar and 800 watts from the alternator simultaneously with the Charger 2. Reverse charging worked well to top up my truck’s AGM batteries. Stay tuned, as later this spring, I will be installing the complete system into our boat for real-world testing this summer.
Boat Installation & Demo with Elite 300 Power Station & B300K Battery Pack
I’m back with the installation of the new Bluetti Charger 2 system on my boat. I paired it with my Elite 300 power station and a B300K expansion battery for a total of over 5,700 watt-hours of power storage. I mounted the Charger 2 and the big expansion battery under a seat in the salon, where it’s out of the way but easy to access.
It serves as a handy backup to my main lithium house banks for those extended cloudy days, while also giving us a convenient spot to charge phones, tablets, and other devices. I can even plug in the boat’s water heater if needed. The system connects to my starter batteries to draw power from the alternator and also accepts solar input.
The install was straightforward with the provided wiring, and I added a breaker for easy on/off control. I keep it in silent charging mode so it only draws about 250 to 300 watts from the alternator, which keeps things cool and safe on my older diesel engine. The app makes everything easy to monitor and adjust, including priority charging and a really cool reverse charging feature that lets the expansion battery top up my starter batteries if they ever run low.
During a recent trip, it worked great, recharging the Elite 300 portable power station while we cruised and then powering small loads at anchor with solar support. This setup works equally well for motorhomes and gives me a solid, flexible backup system on the boat.
