Anne and I are continuing to prepare our 1976 CHB trawler for summer cruising. Part two shows you my work at the boat’s bow: cleaning and rewiring the Side Shift bow thruster for a new LiFePO battery bank and power washing the forward bilge and anchor locker drain passage.

Anne is making headway removing the old Cetol teak coating from the stern and portside gunwales and prepping the wood for a new stain. She uses my Wagner heat gun on low and a convex blade wood scraper to remove it, which is much less messy than sanding it off. Then she cleans it with Star Bright teak cleaner to remove some underlying black mold. She rented some scaffolding from the boat yard to make the job easier.
