I’ve been hard at work getting our boat ready for the summer. I wrapped up the electrical upgrades, installing a lithium battery for the windlass and bow thruster with a two-way switch to toggle between it and the old AGM battery system. It’s an experiment to test the lithium’s performance, but I kept the old setup as a backup. I also added a DC-to-DC charger to keep the battery topped up underway.
Meanwhile, I replaced four lead-acid batteries with two lithium ones for our backup house bank, cleaned up the bilge, and added fuses and a shunt for safety and monitoring. Anne has been beautifying the boat, tackling the teak railings, gunwales, and swim platform, sanding and staining them to look sharp. I dewinterized the engine, changed filters, and had a mechanic help with the stuffing box.
We also tested the propane system, stove, and fridge. Next up, we’re cleaning, waxing, and tackling the swim platform’s repairs. It’s coming together, and we’re stoked to hit the water soon!
