Propane Camping Shower – Usage Review on our Boat

We’ve just had a good evening and early morning of rain, so I took the chance to grab a nice hot shower using my BougeRV propane-powered portable shower unit on the boat. I tarp the back deck over our bedroom to catch drips and collect fresh rainwater in a 5-gallon bucket.

The lightweight unit lives in a storage box up on the flybridge along with a small green propane tank. I hook up the colour-coded hoses, drop the pump intake into the bucket, and feed the hot water hose through the porthole into the forward head. It runs on battery power with no plug needed. I set it for around 106 degrees, and it brings the cold inlet water up to temperature in about 20 seconds.

I turn the pump on to start the flow, rinse off, shut it down to soap up, then fire it back up for the final rinse. It gives me a proper hot shower using only about 4 gallons. The nozzle has different stream options, and the whole setup is simple to use and drain afterward. I just tuck everything away until next time. Overall, it has been a thumbs-up; it works great for off-grid boating.
