This video looks at the Willingdon Beach Campground, run by the city of Powell River on the BC Sunshine Coast. After a three-week stay at Sunlund RV Park in Lund, we moseyed our way a bit south to Willingdon Beach. While camped in Lund, we checked out the Willingdon campground and pre-booked a spot near the oceanfront that would fit our rig.
There are many full hookup sites, but the beachfront ones only had electrical, so no water and sewer. Not a problem as I could fill my tank from a spigot outside the nearby bathroom building. For sewer, I utilized my macerator and sewer tote setup and disposed of the wastewater at a dump station about 10 minutes away near the airport.
Anne and I camped there for two weeks in October 2022 and thoroughly enjoyed the forested campsite, beach, and ocean views. It is relatively remote, as it takes two ferry trips to get there from the BC mainland, but the town of Powell River is large enough to provide all the essentials.
For us, the laid-back atmosphere of the community and the abundance of nature and scenic surroundings was worth the costly ferry trip from Comox.
