The video starts out just after 7 in the morning; the fog is lifting, and the sun is starting to break through here at the end of Drury Inlet in the Muirhead Islands. We arrived yesterday and found a nice little cove to anchor in. It is calm and quiet, with a foghorn in the distance, probably from a cruise ship. The fog should burn off soon, and we are looking at a warm, sunny day around 23C, so we plan to take the dinghy out and explore the islands and islets.
We headed out in the dinghy and worked our way around to Macgowan Bay where we spotted a black bear on the shore. He was crunching mussels off the branches and flipping over rocks and even big boulders like they were nothing. Ravens and crows hung around hoping for leftovers. Anne got the shot she wanted of him walking along a log. Later we checked out a couple of the main anchorages, saw a few other boats, and when we got back she spotted another bear across the way.
The next morning we motored a short way up the inlet in the calm before the wind picked up, saw seals, an eagle, ducks, herons, seabirds and several talkative kingfishers, then came back to putter around the islands. The reflections of the trees, rocks and exposed seaweed off the calm waters made for a gorgeous scene. We will spend at least one more day here before moving on.
