It’s been almost two weeks since the last travel update. We left Pendrell Sound, headed for Campbell River. With a decent windstorm in the forecast, we wanted a dock. Anne’s rear molar started acting up again. The root sits close to her sinuses, and it was bothering her enough that her regular dentist in Campbell River sent her to the specialist in Comox.

The appointment was a week out, so we hung around at Drew Harbor by Heriot Bay Marina and Rebecca Spit Provincial Park. It’s a beautiful spit, popular for day walks and even swimming, with an RV park nearby. We spent a nice week there. I shot a bunch of footage for a video, but my laptop screen died before I could back it up. I got a new laptop, and I’ll pull the SSD from the old one after we haul the boat so that footage can still come out as a bonus later.

Anne got the tooth fixed, and we stayed a few more days on the Campbell River dock to make sure she was okay. Most of this stretch was split between that dock and Drew Harbor. Everything is good now. Her tooth is fine, and the new laptop is working.

It’s mid-September with at least a couple more weeks of decent boating and a spectacular calm, blue-sky forecast, highs in the low 20s C and cooler nights. The days are shorter, sunrise around 7, a little fall crisp in the air, and the odd tree turning color.

Today we’re heading to Von Donop Inlet, a favorite provincial marine park we haven’t visited this year, and maybe a swim if the water is still warm enough. After that, we want to get back into the Desolation Sound area for the shoulder season, when the crowds are gone and the anchorages are much freer. Stay tuned.
