In the video, I installed a high-water bilge alarm from Johnson Pump as an extra safety upgrade on the boat. This little unit sits just above the normal bilge pump level and alerts us with a super-loud buzzer or a light if water gets too high, in case the pumps fail or we have a leak. It works via water conductivity rather than a float, so it is simple and reliable. I mounted the alarm panel right beside my battery monitor at the helm station, where we can easily hear it, especially from the kitchen area.
I wired it into the same breaker as the bilge pumps for power, added a ground, and used a temporary inline fuse until I tidy it up.
The sensor is mounted down in the main bilge at a level that would catch overflow from there or the engine bilge, plus it is close to the water heater in case of any piping issues. After testing everything, it works great and gives us some good peace of mind, especially when sleeping on the boat. Another project done.
