In this video, I pull apart our Maxwell model RC10 anchor windlass for a good cleaning and re-lubrication. Since we bought the boat three years ago, the anchor has worked well, and I have done a yearly clean and regrease of the top section of the windlass. This spring, I decided to change the gear oil, which meant removing the windless from its mount by separating the top and bottom sections.

Windless Disassembled

It proved a bit tough to separate due to years of corrosion buildup, but I managed to do so without damaging anything. Once all apart, I cleaned everything and lubricated as the manual instructed. The windless is working better than ever now.
