I wanted to share my thoughts on the new Weber Q1000 grill that Anne got me for Christmas. She picked it out herself, and it turned out to be the perfect choice. We used to have an O Grill, which we bought back in 2011 during our first RV trip. It served us well for many years, but had seen better days. The model Q1000’s compact size fits easily into our RV’s storage bay, and I love the dual porcelain-coated cast iron plates, which are easy to clean.

The grill came mostly assembled, which was a nice touch. I only had to attach the lid, handle, and knob. The design is practical, featuring a single burner and split cooking grates. The regulator is conveniently placed for easy modification if you want to use low-pressure in an RV. It’s also certified for use in the US and Canada, making it safe, especially important for use aboard our boat.

I picked up a few accessories to go with it, including a stainless steel braided hose to connect to a 20 lb propane tank. I also found an attractive NettyPro cover on Amazon, which is essential for protecting the grill from the elements, especially when camping on the rainy west coast or in our boat.

To finish off, I gave the grill a quick test run and was impressed with its performance. The flame and adjustment settings worked perfectly for cooking up some yummy New Year’s Day steaks.

Update – Fixed Faulty Regulator

After a few months, my grill stopped working. The gas flow became so low that it wouldn’t even light. After troubleshooting all the possible issues, I narrowed it down to a fault with the regulator. I found I was able to restore its operation by spraying CRC electronic cleaning spray into the regulator input end. Either there was debris or dirt inside, or the regulator reset; I’m not sure. Anyway, it has been functioning well since then.
