I’m back with another DJI product review (Link to my DJI Power 2000 Review), this time on their new Power 1000 Mini. They call it the smallest 1,000-watt-hour power station on the market, and it really is compact at just over a foot long, 8 inches wide, and 8 inches tall. Inside is a 1,000 Wh LiFePO4 battery and a 1,000-watt inverter that can handle up to 1,200 watts on heating-element loads.
Fair Disclosure: I received a free review sample of the product
The front has four AC outlets, two USB-A ports, and a neat retractable 100W USB-C cable that pulls out when needed. I also like the built-in light with SOS mode. It’s perfect for my boat use as a portable unit for charging phones, tablets, navigation gear, or running small tools up on the flybridge.
I tested it quite a bit, and it performed well. The 400W MPPT solar input works but is limited to about 30V max, so you have to be careful with higher-voltage panels. I really liked the built-in car charging feature, though. I just plugged in their optional cable to my truck, and it pulled up to 400 watts while driving. AC charging is fast too, getting it back to full in around 75 minutes.
It ran my 12V 7A water transfer pump, a 700W Instapot, and a heat gun up to 1,200 watts without issue, though a hair dryer only worked on low. The display is bright and easy to read outside, and the DJI app makes firmware updates and monitoring simple.
Overall, I think this is a winner for RVer, boaters, and anyone needing a compact portable station. The only major drawback I find is a lack of support for solar panels with voltages over 30V. I’d like it to handle at least 50 volts. I’ll be keeping it on the boat this season and will share an update later on how it holds up.
