In this video, I’m checking out a new product from Haloview, the same folks who make the wireless rear monitoring system and cameras I use on my RV. I’ve tested several of their models, including the BT10 model, but I really prefer the BT7 with its square design over the long rear-view-mirror style.

One cool feature on the Byte Tango models is the built-in tire pressure monitoring system, which tracks all eight tires on my truck and RV and provides pressure and temperature readings for each tire.

BT7 TPMS with Axle Temp Kit

Haloview just sent me their new axle temperature monitors to test. You can get four for a tandem-axle fifth wheel like mine, or just two for a single-axle type. Each one clamps right onto the back of the axle near the wheel so it can catch any overheating from dragging brakes or bad bearings before something catastrophic happens on the road. Inside, it’s basically one of their tire sensors repurposed for temperature, mounted on an aluminum plate. It’s fully wireless and paired easily with my existing BT system.

Haloview Axles Sensor A Look Inside

I paired them by entering the sensor IDs, and they show up on the screen alongside my tire data. Right now they’re reading around 66-71°F, nice and green. You can set your own custom high-temperature alerts, so it turns red and plays an audio alert well before anything gets too hot. The sensors use a CR1632 battery that lasts about a year, and the kit even includes spare screws and O-rings.

I installed them by clamping them as close to the wheels as possible on smooth spots on the axle. After a 4-hour tow, everything worked great. The axle temps stayed close to what my tire sensors showed, rising about 15-20°F above ambient, which is normal for my rig.

The wireless signal was solid thanks to the 2 signal extenders that came with my BT TPMS system. Overall, these axle monitors give me one more layer of peace of mind while I’m out on the road with the rig.
